President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid tribute to the youth of 1976 ahead of the wreath laying ceremony at the Hector Pieterson Memorial Museum.
“It is because of the youth of 1976 that we enjoy this freedom today. It is because of the blood of people like Hector Pieterson that we enjoy this political freedom,” adds President Ramaphosa.

He also highlighted that we still face challenges.

He says just like with the then youth, working together we can overcome these challenges.
He further thanked everyone for braving the cold in honor of the sacrifices made on this day 42 years ago.
