Polokwane – Police have apprehended a wounded male suspect kidnapper after a shootout and high-speed chase along the R81 road, between Polokwane and Mooketsi, near Dikgale village in Limpopo after he allegedly attempted to flee with millions of rand in ransom money in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The man and an accomplice allegedly kidnapped businessman Shamshuddin Patel between Polokwane and Mooketsi, in his 50s from Thohoyandou, and demanded a 6million ransom from his family. The family decided to approach the police with Intel.
SAPS and the Intelligence unit set up a monitoring task team, which led to the chase and the apprehension of one of the suspects.
The suspect who had been shot was taken to hospital under police guard. He is to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court when he recovers. While the second suspect escaped and a manhunt has been launched by the SAPS.

According to a tweet from Abramjee, Nimola security and safety App Ambassador. The man who had been kidnapped was successfully rescued.
Limpopo businessman Salim Vali Patel (44), pictured, kidnapped in Tzaneen is still missing. Another businessman Shamshuddin Patel from SI Hardware Group taken in Thohoyandou earlier was released after a police operation that led to one arrests. R6m ransom was demanded. pic.twitter.com/4hU8w496px
