On Friday evening 02 June 2017, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to reports of a very serious collision between a motorbike and a car at the intersection of Atterbury and Solomon Mahlangu in Garsfontein, Pretoria. Reports from the scene indicate that the bike caught fire following the collision and was extinguished by the towing services.

An off-duty Netcare 911 paramedic was first to arrive at the scene and was joined shortly afterwards by his on-duty colleagues. They attended to the 23 year old male bike rider who had sustained life threatening injuries. An Advanced Life Support resuscitation was initiated but tragically, despite the efforts of the paramedic and ambulance team, the young man succumbed to his severe injuries. Documentation pertaining to the victims death was completed by Netcare 911 paramedics and handed over to authorities at the scene.
Two occupants from the car, one male and one female, sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital by another ambulance service for further assessment and care.
Garsfontein SAPS were on the scene to investigate the incident.
