JOHANNESBURG – Police have confirmed that four people were taken in for questioning in connection with the killing of radio Jozi FM DJ Mandla Hlatshwayo.
Hlatshwayo and his friend Oupa Duma were shot and killed on Sunday evening during a robbery at a Soweto pub in Pimville.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said four people were taken in questioning.
“Police are questioning the suspects to see if they can link them to the shooting,” Dlamini said.
He said the suspects were found in possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm.
The former Generations actor and his friend were declared dead at the scene.
According to reports, Hlatshwayo and a colleague tried to assist two women who had been robbed of their cellphones.
For the family, his brutal murder is especially hard to accept since Hlatswayo’s father died in a similar way decades ago.
The family will announce details of his memorial service and funeral soon.
