Vanderbijlpark – A man and a woman died and several other people were injured in two separate car crashes in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday night, Gauteng paramedics said.
In the first accident, two cars collided on Tshepiso Road and ER24 paramedics and other services attended to the incident, ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing-Harduth said on Sunday.“Sadly a man, believed to be in his 20s, who was found trapped in one of the vehicles had succumbed to his injuries. A woman also believed to be in her 20s was found lying near one of the vehicles. Upon assessment it was found that she was in a critical condition.”
She was treated and transported to hospital for further medical care. It was understood that there were at least two other patients on the scene. They were transported to hospital by other services. The cause of the collision was unknown, Bodasing-Harduth said.
In another crash, a woman died and another person sustained moderate injuries when the driver lost control of the car he was driving on Delfos Boulevard late on Saturday night. It was understood that the car rolled multiple times, was airborne, and hit another vehicle, Bodasing-Harduth said.
“Upon arrival at the scene, ER24 paramedics found the vehicle that rolled [had ended up] between a light pole and a wall. A female found in the vehicle had sadly succumbed to her injuries. She sustained multiple severe injuries. The driver sustained moderate injuries,” she said.
