JOHANNESBURG – American president Barack Obama has rescinded South Africa’s suspension from the African Growth and Opportunity Act.
This comes after South Africa finally allowed poultry from the US to enter the country.
Obama had warned that if American chicken is not on South African shelves by Tuesday, the country would lose access to the duty-free trade deal.
The issue of American poultry had been a point of contention between the two nations.
But the US ambassador to South Africa says they are looking forward to a fruitful, future relationship.
