JOHANNESBURG – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has alleged that the Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu, was pushed out of a position because of Gupta interference.
The party’s deputy president, Floyd Shivambu, claims Sisulu was removed from the defence ministry because she did not cooperate with the influential family.
Shivambu was speaking during the party’s commemoration of Human Rights Day in Uitenhage.
“We can tell you for free that the reason Lindiwe Sisulu was shifted from defence ministry to public service and admin, is because the Guptas wants to have the tender to lease planes to defence for R106-billion.
“They have that tender now. She wanted to buy cheaper planes, but the Guptas said no, we will sell you a plane for R4-billion. And when she refused, they shifted her to public service and administration,” he said.
Sisulu’s spokesperson said the minister would not comment on the EFF’s allegations.
This comes at the back of a few allegations that ANC MPs have been offered positions by the Gupta family.
Asked to respond to these allegations during the Parliamentary Q&A session, the president said those who wanted to know if the claims were true, should approach the Guptas directly.
