Durban : On 11 January 2016, KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Task Team arrested a 32-year-old male for murder of a Lamontville taxi owner. He will appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 14 January 2016 facing murder charges. On 3 October 2015 at about 19:05, Khehla Ndebele (26) was fatally shot by unknown suspects at Msimango Road in Lamontville. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in his body. A case of murder was reported at Lamontville Police Station and the docket was transferred to the Provincial Taxi Task Team for further investigation. Members followed-up information since then and he was subsequently arrested in Umlazi township.
– The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the members for the breakthrough. “We believe that the suspect will be linked to other taxi related crimes in the province and his accomplices will be arrested soon,” she said.
